Sold, pending, and archived listings

What happens when a listing leaves the market.

When a broker marks a listing sold or under offer, or the listing drops out of the broker's live listings, we update its status on our next check:

  • Sold: the broker marked it sold.
  • Pending: under offer, but not closed.
  • Delisted and Other (together, we call these archived): the listing is no longer among the broker's live listings. Delisted means the broker took it down. Other means we don't know why, and it may have sold, been delisted, or expired. Listing cards and pages show Other as Inactive.

Not every broker marks sales or offers, so on some sources a sold business shows up as Delisted or Other. These are statuses we've detected, not confirmed, and a later check can change them. A pending deal can fall through and come back. If it comes back after at least 48 hours off the market, it shows up in Back on Market (Pro) for 7 days. That page also includes listings returning from any other off-market status.

Who can see them

By default, you only see live listings when you browse. Pro members can find off-market listings with the Status filter by choosing Sold, Pending, Delisted, or Other, and can open their pages to see the price and status changes we've recorded. Without Pro, an off-market listing's page is locked.

That history shows what similar businesses were asking before they left the market. It doesn't show final sale prices.

We've tracked listings since June 2024, and 43,000+ of them have left the market. We started detecting sold and pending status for some brokers in July 2025.
